I am adding this AI series in response to the volume of questions I’ve been fielding from our clients about it, its use, its impacts, how we’re preparing, and what are own intentions around it. Like everybody else I’m still very much in the learning stage, and I’ve seen just as many positives as I have seen negatives – I’m speaking here specifically to its output and how my clients have utilized it and various messes we’ve had to address. I’m suspending judgement – for now – on the philosophical aspect of the debate and I’m currently of the opinion that in skilled hands these tools can yield impressive results that can push your brand to the top of its game. In unskilled hands… well, you know the phrase “garbage in, garbage out.”

One powerful takeaway from this debate video (for me) and the quote that I just can’t get out of my head is when Bret Weinstein says “This is an uncontrolled experiment in which all humanity is downstream.” Well. That’s certainly the sort of thing that keeps me awake at night.

This video is 2 ½ hours long, but I feel that it’s far more important to be paying attention to this content right now than it is to watch more TV or do some doomscrolling.

Cheers!
Chris

What happens when artificial intelligence stops being a tool – and starts making decisions on its own? In this urgent and insightful roundtable, industry experts explore the explosive rise of AI agents, how they’re already changing the way we work, and what it means for our economic future.

What Are AI Agents?

AI agents are autonomous artificial intelligence systems that don’t just respond to prompts – they take actions to achieve goals. These next-gen tools can:

  • Write code and deploy apps
  • Order goods and services online
  • Automate customer support
  • Manage business workflows

Unlike traditional AI chatbots, these agents operate independently, often with little to no human oversight. And their capabilities are growing exponentially.

Artificial Intelligence Disruption: Threat or Opportunity?

The panelists explore both sides of the coin:

  • Entrepreneurs are using AI agents to launch businesses with zero coding skills.
  • AI is increasing productivity, reducing costs, and expanding creative potential.

But alongside this innovation lies a real threat: massive job automation.

AI systems are poised to replace:

  • Graphic designers
  • Copywriters
  • Accountants
  • Software engineers
  • Call center workers

“If your job involves routine digital tasks – it’s at risk,” one expert warns.

Are We Creating AGI?

Systems theorist Bret Weinstein warns that we may already be on the path to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) – machines with the ability to learn and adapt like humans. He argues that these aren’t just tools anymore – they’re the beginnings of a new digital species.

This shift could have consequences we can’t predict, including the loss of human agency and widespread economic instability.

Economic Impact of AI: Will We Need Universal Basic Income (UBI)?

The discussion dives into the socioeconomic fallout of widespread AI adoption. As AI systems replace millions of jobs, some technologists suggest UBI will be necessary to avoid societal collapse. Others disagree, arguing that humans need purpose – not just paychecks.

The debate touches on:

  • Wealth inequality
  • Business process outsourcing displacement
  • The AI arms race between the U.S. and China
  • The shrinking value of human labor

The Rise of Authenticity and the Value of Human Agency

In a world where machines can generate art, music, legal documents, and business plans, authenticity becomes the new currency. Human traits like emotional intelligence, spontaneity, and creative agency may be our last bastions of value.

“The world will divide between passive AI consumers and high-agency creators.”

Final Thoughts

We’re no longer asking “What can AI do?”
We’re now asking: “What can’t it do – and what does that mean for us?”

This emergency debate makes one thing clear: whether it leads to a utopia of opportunity or a collapse of the job market, the AI disruption is already here.
