Payments and your financial information

This section is written by us, and supplements the privacy policy above. It covers something that policy does not: what happens to your financial information when you pay us.

The page you pay on carries our domain, but it is operated by Stripe. When you purchase a plan or open an account, you are taken to billing.pxlpod.co. That address is ours, but the page itself is served and controlled by Stripe, Inc. under an arrangement in which Stripe hosts payment pages on our behalf. Invoice payments work the same way at invoice.stripe.com. We are telling you this because the address bar will not: on the billing page you will see our name, and you may reasonably assume you are still on our website. You are not, in the sense that matters here.

Your card details go to Stripe, not to us. The card number, security code, or bank account details you enter on that page are transmitted directly to Stripe. They do not pass through our website, our hosting, or any system we operate.

Stripe collects that information on our behalf. Stripe acts as our payment processor, which means that when you provide your financial information to Stripe, you are providing it for our benefit — in order to open or maintain an account with PXLPOD Web. We consider it important that you understand this, rather than assuming that because the information never reached us, we are not involved in its collection.

What we receive and keep. After a successful payment, Stripe provides us with a payment reference, the final four digits of your card or bank account, the card brand or bank name, the amount, the date, and the billing name and address associated with the payment. We retain these as part of our accounting records.

What we never receive. We do not receive and cannot access your full card number, your card security code, or your full bank account number. These are held by Stripe and are not retrievable by us through Stripe’s dashboard, its interfaces, or any export. We could not disclose them to anyone, including to you, because we do not have them.

Card security codes are not stored by anyone. Retaining a card security code after a payment is authorized is prohibited under the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard. Neither we nor Stripe retain it.

If you pay by check. A check carries your bank routing and account numbers on its face, and we necessarily see them in order to deposit it. We do not record, transcribe, or store those numbers in any system.

Stripe’s own handling. Stripe’s collection and use of your information is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy at https://stripe.com/privacy. Questions about information held by Stripe should be directed to Stripe; questions about the records we hold should be directed to chris@pxlpod.co.
