Who we serve ยท Creative & Media

The work has to load before anyone sees it.

Websites for studios and media companies whose site is the reel, the portfolio, and the pitch at once.

A production company, a podcast network, a design studio: the work is the argument, and the website is where a producer or a brand manager sees it first, usually on a phone between meetings. Only about half of mobile home pages load fast enough, and media-heavy sites fail by default. We build and manage sites for creative businesses so the reel plays, the portfolio stays current with the last job, and the studioโ€™s taste is the only thing a visitor notices.

1Whatโ€™s at stake
What keeps you up at night

Nine ways a studioโ€™s website loses the pitch before the reel plays.

These are the concerns we hear most, and the ones the research backs up. Each one is a page, a post, or a fix waiting to happen.

1

The reel is the first thing that loads, and itโ€™s slow

The homepage opens on an autoplay video or a 4K still with no poster and no mobile fallback, so the phone waits on the video before it can paint anything. Only about half of mobile home pages pass Googleโ€™s speed threshold, and media-first sites are the ones that donโ€™t. The prospect between meetings gives up before the first frame.

2

Every page has a YouTube or Vimeo embed, and the site crawls

Portfolio pages carry six to twelve iframes, each shipping hundreds of kilobytes of player before anyone clicks. A poster-and-play-button facade is a few kilobytes; the default embed code is half a megabyte. Owners paste the default and never revisit it, and the portfolio scores worse than the clientโ€™s own site.

3

I didnโ€™t know the embed was tracking people before they clicked play

YouTubeโ€™s โ€œprivacy-enhancedโ€ embed still writes a device identifier on page load and sets cookies on play, with no consent asked. State privacy laws treat that as sharing personal data. For a studio whose entire site is embeds, every page is exposed, and the fix is a consent-gated placeholder, not a different embed code.

4

Our site still shows work from five years ago

Client work always wins the calendar. The agenciesโ€™ own โ€œcobblerโ€™s childrenโ€ confessions run five to nine years between redesigns. A referral who checks the site sees work youโ€™d never pitch today, and wonders whether youโ€™re still active.

5

Adding a project means calling the designer

The site was hand-built page by page, so a new case study is a developer ticket, and the project goes on Instagram instead while the site falls further behind. Built as a content type with templated case-study pages, a new project is a fifteen-minute form. Built as cloned sections, it never is.

6

Weโ€™re on Adobe Portfolio or Squarespace, and we canโ€™t leave

Adobe Portfolio has no site export; the images come out and nothing else. Squarespace has no uptime monitoring, so the first notice of an outage is a client. The reel, the search history, and the URLs are hostage to a subscription.

7

AI is scraping my portfolio, and I canโ€™t block it

Nearly all visual artists want to deter AI crawlers, most donโ€™t know what robots.txt is, and three-quarters of their sites are on platforms that wonโ€™t let them edit it. The response is to post less and lower-res, which weakens the pitch. On a site you control, the crawler policy is a deliberate choice.

8

Our reel has no captions, and the galleries have no alt text

A portfolio site is almost entirely media, so it fails the accessibility standard on both counts by default. Video content is now explicitly tracked in the lawsuit data, and captioning years of reel under a demand-letter deadline costs far more than doing it as the work ships.

9

Buyers want case studies. We have a reel.

Every procurement guide for hiring a production company lists the same filters: similar past work, written case studies with process and outcome, timeline, pricing transparency, reviews. The reel proves craft. It doesnโ€™t prove you can run a corporate job on budget, and the RFP shortlist goes to the studio with three written case studies and a process page.

PodShield

Consent and accessibility kept current on a site full of embeds and third-party players, which is exactly where consent banners and screen readers break. Fixes on the record.

Where it starts

Rebuilds where the design serves the work and gets out of the way. Media delivered fast on any connection, portfolios the studio updates itself, and content structured so AI engines describe the studio the way the studio would.

Did you know
Misconception

โ€œThe reel should autoplay full-screen on load. Thatโ€™s what sells.โ€

The reality

Without a poster image the browser waits on the video and the page fails on mobile. A poster-first hero with the video loading second gives the same impression and passes.

Misconception

โ€œWe use YouTubeโ€™s privacy-enhanced embed, so weโ€™re covered.โ€

The reality

It still writes a device identifier on page load. Only a consent-gated placeholder avoids tracking before the viewer agrees.

Misconception

โ€œInstagram is our portfolio.โ€

The reality

Until a buyer asks for the site. A feed canโ€™t carry a case study, a rights notice, a captioned reel, or a form that routes to the right person, and reach is rented.

Misconception

โ€œWe uploaded the reel to WordPress. Done.โ€

The reality

A five-hundred-megabyte file in the media library bloats every backup, eats bandwidth, and buffers on phones. WordPress publishes; a video host delivers. Keep them separate.

Misconception

โ€œA client kept using our photos after the license ended, and thereโ€™s nothing we can do.โ€

The reality

Photographers win those cases when the usage terms were written down. A rights register attached to each portfolio item is the evidence, and most studios donโ€™t keep one.

FAQ

Questions Creative & Media clients ask first.

Can the site handle a lot of video without slowing down?

Yes, if the build is disciplined: video delivered from a host, embeds behind facades that load on click, posters for every hero, modern image formats, no autoplay over cellular. The reel leads and the page still passes on a phone.

Can we update our own portfolio?

Thatโ€™s the point of building it as a content type. Add a project, pick the stills, attach the rights, and it lays itself out. No developer in the loop.

Do you work with our podcast host or video platform?

Vimeo, YouTube, Spotify, Apple, your podcast host: they stay where they are. We own the website layer and make the embeds fast and consent-safe.

What does it cost to have you manage a studioโ€™s site?

SecurePod Care runs from $379 a month with hosting included. Rebuilds start at $3,200. The free audit tells you which you need first.

Will you name us on your site?

Only with your permission, and only once youโ€™ve approved the case study.
